Our Mission Statement
We are a bible based progressive and inclusive community of believers, growing in faith, love and service to God, the community, and the world.
Our Vision Statement
We seek through God’s will to: encourage outreach to the greater San Diego community and beyond; utilize new and evolving technology to promote intergenerational membership; and enhance the lives and spiritual development of all people through Worship, Christian Education, Social Justice and Fellowship.
Accessible to All(A2A) & Open and Affirming(ONA) Statement
As a community of Christ we believe that all persons are children of God, created in God’s image, and affirm the inherent value, worth and dignity of all races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, and gender identities, without regard to one’s marital status, family structure, faith and educational background, economic and social standing, mental and physical ability, military or civilian status. No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.
In the prophetic tradition of the progressive United Church of Christ, we extravagantly welcome all people into the full life, membership, leadership, mission, fellowship, worship, and sacraments of this church, and invite all to bear the responsibilities, blessings and joys of membership, ministry and life in this church. Recognizing that we are an increasingly diverse culture and that there are differences among us in private belief and interpretation of sacred scriptures, we covenant, as the community of Christ, to work and serve the Lord together in this church.
——
While we value and honor diversity in private belief and interpretation of sacred scriptures, the following CORE VALUES guide and inform how we carry out ministry, missions and management.

-
The Oneness of God
We affirm the oneness of God and believe that all persons are children of God, who are inherently valuable and worthy of respect.
-
God’s Revelation in Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that God was in Christ in a unique way, reconciling the world to Godself. In Christ’s life we see God’s intent for humanity, a model of love and service.
-
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Spirit of God who is present in every part of creation from the beginning of time. God sends the Spirit to be our Advocate and Comforter, to intercede for us with sighs too deep for words, and to guide us in truth and wisdom.
-
The Centrality of Worship
We affirm that worship is the central activity of the community of faith. In worship we joyfully and creatively celebrate the transformative presence of God; as we listen for God’s voice we offer our devotion to God in the giving our time, talent and treasure.
-
The Significance of Christian Education
We affirm the significance of Christian Education whose primary task is the formation of disciples of Jesus, who express the unconditional love of God in Jesus Christ throughout the world.
-
The Importance of Growth
We value growth within individuals and communities. We affirm that each member is called to grow in Christ and enthusiastically invite others into a process of growth. We seek to illuminate the Gospel in ways that encourage and attract others to Christian faith; valuing each person’s journey, while asking the hard questions of faith which expand our understanding of biblical truths for our lives.
-
The Community of God’s People
We affirm the importance of community. We are born in community, called to live in community and are redeemed in community. Covenant relationships established in equity, fairness, grace, mutual trust and respect are essential to the building of fellowship and the empowering of Christian community. -
Commitment and Responsibility
We affirm the need for passionate commitment of our time, talent and treasure. We believe that Jesus calls us to a life of service, love and radical stewardship, which requires genuine commitment and opens us to live our lives in joy.
-
UCC Theology & Values
We affirm the theology and values of the United Church of Christ, specifically the call to be a prophetic church of peace, justice, diversity, inclusion and love. We are a people of possibility.
-
Practice of Ecumenism & Interfaith Dialogue
We affirm the spirit and practice of ecumenism; that is, the principle of worldwide Christian harmony and unity. Believing in God’s inclusive nature, we respect different religious traditions, support interfaith dialogue, and cooperate with other religious institutions.
