At Christian Fellowship this is not just a tagline, it is what we really mean. And we invite you to experience our Extravagant Welcome for yourself any Sunday at 11:00 AM for our Morning Worship, or on Wednesday Evening at 6:00 PM for our adult bible study (virtual).
Since 1887 Christian Fellowship has been on the cutting edge of progressive, inclusive, justice and witness-oriented ministries in the City of San Diego, founded first as the Second Congregational Church in San Diego.
We believe that a living faith in Jesus Christ demands not only righteous living but a faithful engagement with the issues and challenges of our world. In the past, this has meant things like a national leadership role in the pre-Civil War Abolition Movement, active engagement in the struggle for Women’s suffrage and the ordination of women, and the Civil Rights Movement. We are proud of our history, but not chained to it. Our faith calls us ever forward, particularly as we faithfully think about issues of ecological justice, racial justice, homelessness, interfaith partnership, and immigration concerns as a border community in the United States.
We believe that God’s Spirit calls us to work for the rights and dignity of all people, believing that God’s image is reflected in human variety and diversity. One of the ways that we express this belief is that in 2017 we voted to become an Open and Affirming Accessible to All churches, welcoming persons who are differently-abled, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender into full participation, leadership, and ministry of our growing congregation.
Christian Fellowship Congregational Church UCC is a progressive and inclusive community of believers, and we believe by faith that there is a place here for you!
You are joyfully Welcome Here!
Today, under one collective identity, we can enthusiastically lift up that the UCC is a welcoming, justice-minded Christian community. At a time when religion is too often portrayed as narrow-minded and exclusive, many are raising their VOICES for an alternate vision.
Doing justice, seeking peace and building community are central to the identity of the Christian Fellowship. We invite you to explore the breadth and depth of the UCC’s justice work. Join us in building a stronger faith-based movement for peace, justice, equality and inclusivity. Our work is rooted in the teachings of Sacred Scripture.
