Frances Foster retired from Emory University as the Charles Howard Candler Professor of English and Women’s Studies. Dr. Foster served as the chair of black studies, assistant dean at San Diego State University before relocating to Emory. She has been a member of the United Church of Christ for over thirty years and has served as moderator and ordained deacon.
